Ask botany for the required plants, or hack the seed dispensers to grow your own.

As a Chef, your goal is to provide food for the hungry masses of the station. While it's technically possible for the crew to survive off of vending machine snacks and old MREs, you are the station's main source of proper ''meals'' such as steaks, pasta, burgers, and cakes. Aside from cooking meals, you're also usually responsible for properly butchering any dead animals on the station, as otherwise their corpses will rot and poison the station's atmosphere.


*Most cooked foods can be cut into slices, deliver these to customers instead of the entire batch, as food is expensive in labor
Different species have different dietary requirements, so make sure you provide a diverse array of meals for the station's diverse population.


* Different foods have different nutritional values. Banana bread has very little nutrition, while other, more complicated foods have more nutrition, which can promote the recovery of lost blood.
== Tips ==


* You have a utensil dispenser, it is essentially a vending machine for cups, bowls, mugs, and the like. However, it also contains knives and your trusty cleaver. Thankfully it can only be accessed normally by the chefs, however, if someone gains kitchen access, or hacks the dispenser with a multitool, they can quickly gain a very deadly weapon. Don't be afraid to call security if there is a trespasser, or complain to Hop if they are giving out unneeded access.
* You'll usually want to ask for assistance from the station's [[Botanist|Botanists]], as they can grow the ingredients you'll need for some of your recipes. [[Cargo]] can also order ingredients and livestock for you.
* Sticking to a specific menu will make your life easier, as you won't need a bazillion different ingredients on hand. Make sure any other kitchen staff know which foods you're all making, and teach them the recipes if necessary.
* While [[Playable Species#Moths|moths]] eat fabric instead of plant/animal matter, they still appreciate a well-cooked meal just like anybody else, and you have multiple options for cooking specialty "moth foods". These recipes require fiber, so you'll usually want to ask the Botanists to grow cotton bolls that you can grind for fiber. In extreme cases you might need to source cotton by cutting up some clothing.

Keeping your food inside of a closed container (such as a locker, crate, food cart, or backpack) will prevent mice from being able to eat it. You can set mousetraps under airlocks and tables to help deal with mice, or just chase them down with a cleaver if necessary.
* The butcher's cleaver is a surprisingly dangerous improvised weapon. You should generally keep it on your person (such as in your belt or backpack) to prevent it from being stolen (or in case you need to defend yourself).
* An [[Antagonist]] chef can easily "dispose" of any corpses they might need to get rid of.


*Treat your cleaver like you would a gun. It is extremely deadly, and should be treated as such. Keep it in your pocket or backpack when not in use to prevent stealing, and only use as a last resort or in extreme circumstances, such as assult. Get Hop and the bartender involved if nessisary.

*Dead bodies will likely be delivered to you on the regular. Take these bodies and put them on the spike in your freezer to dispose of them. Security may occasionally search the kitchen or freezer, so make sure that any suspicious meat is out of sight when they come by.
 
*You may occasionally have to deal with strange orders, such as basketball pizza, space crab, or raw monkey meat. Attempt to fulfill these orders to the best of your capability, be creative!
