Anyone who's played any substantial amount of time in science with me knows that - I do not like Flatpackers. There is a common misconception that flatpacking is materially the same as building a machine by hand - but this is fundamentally not true. Flatpackers as whole are generally more steel intensive than manual constructions, and only really serve a benefit when you need to build constructions that require multiple machines (such as shuttlecraft) or if the machine requires more exotic parts (such as digital audio workstation). Below is my list of various components, constructions, and their costs - all for the sake of demystifying the costs of machines and their construction.
